TROCAIRE LENTEN CAMPAIGN

Well done to Year Seven for raising over £100 for the Trocaire Lenten Campaign. The pupils organised an Easter egg raffle in their class. Over Lent the class used their spare money to buy tickets for the chance to win a selection of Easter eggs. The total amount of money collected was £104.42. A great effort by Year Seven!!!! We hope Sinead, Keelin, Nikola, Aoife and Erin enjoy their eggs!

BIG SPRING CLEAN - FRIDAY 8TH APRIL

Kara Wins Eco Speak 2016!

Kara McCallion represented St. Mary's with distinction when she won the Mid Ulster Eco Speak competition on Wednesday 9th March. She did fantastically well to come away with a £300 prize for the school and £50 for herself! Kara delivered an excellent speech on her ideas for the Environment Committee at Stormont. The judges were very impressed by how she related the topic to local issues in Ballinascreen. Maybe we have a future politician in the making!

Congratulations Kara!

Bee Safe 2016
The Bee Safe event demonstrated how to prevent everyday accidents and dangerous situations and deal with them safely and effectively if they occur. There were six accident themed scenarios and we moved around these in small groups. The scenarios helped us think for ourselves. The scenarios were presented by the PSNI, Translink, NI Fire and Rescue, NIE, Women's Aid and NHSC.

Ben Kealey was delighted when he won a five pound note! Many of the class took the opportunity to open an account. Thank you to Oona Harkin for inviting Year Seven.

Litter Blitz!!

Year Seven took part in a litter pick with Year Eight from St. Colm's on Thursday 5th November. The children did a great job cleaning up 'The Plantin' at Moykerran. Twenty three bags were collected! Despite the wet weather everyone had great fun doing something to improve our locality.
