TROCAIRE LENTEN CAMPAIGN
Well done to Year Seven for raising over £100 for the Trocaire Lenten Campaign. The pupils organised an Easter egg raffle in their class. Over Lent the class used their spare money to buy tickets for the chance to win a selection of Easter eggs. The total amount of money collected was £104.42. A great effort by Year Seven!!!! We hope Sinead, Keelin, Nikola, Aoife and Erin enjoy their eggs!
Kara McCallion represented St. Mary's with distinction when she won the Mid Ulster Eco Speak competition on Wednesday 9th March. She did fantastically well to come away with a £300 prize for the school and £50 for herself! Kara delivered an excellent speech on her ideas for the Environment Committee at Stormont. The judges were very impressed by how she related the topic to local issues in Ballinascreen. Maybe we have a future politician in the making!
Visit to Bank of Ireland
Year Seven had a great time visiting Bank of Ireland, Draperstown on Wednesday 25th November. They got to see inside the vault, practise using an ATM and use machines to count coins. Ben Kealey was delighted when he won a five pound note! Many of the class took the opportunity to open an account. Thank you to Oona Harkin for inviting Year Seven.
Year Seven took part in a litter pick with Year Eight from St. Colm's on Thursday 5th November. The children did a great job cleaning up 'The Plantin' at Moykerran. Twenty three bags were collected! Despite the wet weather everyone had great fun doing something to improve our locality.
